Outlook best practices

Back

When frequently using outlook, there are some simple ways to keep it working well and stay efficient. Many of these habits will reduce problems further down the road, and are much easier than fixing it later.

Delete Unnecessary Emails

This is the most important way to stay organized and prevent problems. Keeping up with what emails are still needed, and deleting the rest, will not only make it easier to manage your email but also prevent issues with Outlook. One of the most common causes for program lag or crashing is having months of unneeded emails piled up.

Use Folders

Another useful way to keep track of important emails is to make folders to organize them. The “Inbox” is just a folder, so it’s just as easy as using that. Categorizing emails will save time and help to know what emails can be deleted. An organized inbox is a happy inbox.

Use Descriptive Subjects

One of the main reasons an inbox can get messy is by using nondescript or generic subject titles. When sending an email, using a subject that is simple and accurate will not only help the recipient stay organized, but yourself as well when they respond to it. Maintaining accurate subjects will motivate others to do the same, and help maintain a productive workplace.

Don’t Procrastinate

Taking care of an email right away, whether it’s responding or deleting spam, will make other organizational habits much easier. Keeping up with emails makes it much less intimidating to take care of things and in turn keep your inbox organized.
